Catawba County's new recycling project will take used cooking oil, grease

Catawba County wants the grease from the chicken you fried on Sunday.Beginning Feb. 1, the county will start accepting used cooking oil, grease and fats at its Blackburn Solidwaste Convenience Center, located at 3864 Rocky Ford Road in Newton. The county is only taking the used cooking oils from private homes, not restaurants, say county officials.
